Meet Sekou 🇬🇳

Republic of Guinea

CPSAF Scholar-Athlete: U.S. Arrival at Age 14

Introducing Sekou, a dynamic 15-year-old talent from Conakry, the bustling capital of Guinea. This vibrant city, nestled along the Atlantic coast, serves as the heart of the nation, renowned for its rich culture, history, and as a hub of commerce and education in West Africa.

Sekou's culinary choice is simple yet universal—chicken, a dish that resonates with his straightforward and focused approach to life and sports. His passion for basketball is evident in every game he plays, a reflection of his dedication and love for the sport.

In the classroom, English and science capture Sekou's interest, blending his love for language with the curiosity of the natural world. These subjects mirror his adaptability and keen desire to explore and understand diverse perspectives and phenomena.

Raised in a large family, Sekou cherishes the sense of community and camaraderie. This value extends to his life in the United States with his host family, where he enjoys the warmth and support that fuel his dreams of playing basketball at a high-major Division 1 program in the future.

Sekou's journey from the streets of Conakry to the courts of New England is not just a tale of athletic pursuit but a story of cultural exchange, personal growth, and the universal language of sports that connects us all.
